If one talks about the holy pilgrimage sites to visit in India, Kedarnath will surely make the list!

A holy town located in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, Kedarnath makes up one of the four dhams which are located in the state of Uttarakhand.

It is situated at an altitude of around 3,586 mts and the river Mandakini flows beneath it, making for a surreal view amidst the Garhwal ranges of the Himalayas.

The views from Kedarnath are some of the best views of the Himalayan range you will get, along with blooming rhododendrons, vast landscapes and green forests.

Along with Kedarnath, we also take you to Chopta, which is the hub of many trekking spots. We will take you to Deoriatal, which is a high altitude lake which is 4kms hike from Chopta.

Day 0 – Depart from Mumbai to Delhi.

Day 1 – Delhi – Haridwar (By Volvo).

Day 2 – Haridwar – Guptkashi/Sitapur.

Day 3 – Kedarnath Trek & Stay.

Day 4 – Kedarnath Trek Down & Drive towards Chopta.Chopta Chandrashila Trek.

Day 5 – Chopta – Badrinath.

Day 1 Reach Delhi & Overnight to Haridwar

Leave from Mumbai in the evening (Day 0) and reach Delhi in the evening.Have Dinner & proceed towards Haridwar overnight in AC Volvo Bus.

Day 2 Haridwar - Guptakashi / Sitapur (240 Kms / 9 hours)

Reach Haridwar in the morning & we will start the journey towards our first destination Guptkashi/ Sitapur which is the Base of Kedarnath Temple.

Check-in Hotel by evening, freshen up and overnight sleep.

Day 3Kedarnath Trek & Stay

Wake up early & after breakfast, ee start our pilgrim towards the Kedarnath Temple.

A total of 16kms Trek but you can even book a Helicopter or Horse as per your requirement.

Attend evening Aarti at Kedarnath Temple.

Overnight Stay at Kedarnath

Day 4Kedarnath Trek Down & Drive to Chopta (80 kms / 4 hours)

Wake up early morning & visit Kedarnath’s Garbha Griha in the morning & Trek down from Kedarnath to Gaurikund and then leave for Chopta.

Reach Chopta, check-in Homestay and freshen up.

Dinner & Overnight stay in Chopta.

Day 5Chopta Chandrashila Trek

Wakeup early morning & after breakfast we trek to Chandrashila.

We trek down to Chopta by evening and spend the rest of the time at leisure to relax your muscles.

Overnight stay in Chopta.

Day 6Chopta - Badrinath (180 kms / 08 hours)

Check-out early morning & drive to Badrinath.

On arrival, check-in to the hotel & rest.  

Visit Badrinath Temple for Darshan in the Evening after taking bath in Tapt Kund (Hot Spring) and then proceed to the Temple.

Back to hotel, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7Badrinath - Rishikesh (300 kms / 10 hours)

Wake up early morning & head towards Rishikesh. 

Check-in to the homestay/camps late evening.

Bonfire & chill night.

Dinner & overnight sleep.

Day 8Rishikesh River Rafting - Delhi

Check-out and go for the Best River Rafting & other adventurous activities.

Late evening catch Volvo Bus back to Delhi.

Reach Delhi early morning. Depending upon the return train timing, if time permits roam around the Delhi city at your own.

Important things to remember for Kedarnath Yatra

The trip will start only after the payment of the full amount. Make sure you make all the arrangements beforehand.

Kedarnath Temple is accessible after doing a Trek for 10-12 hours. The driver will drop you at the starting point.

Don’t compare its hospitality and services with other hotels in the main tourist locations.

In some cases, the vehicle may drop you at Starting point of the trek. You have to make arrangements on your own to reach.

In an exceptional case, if the mentioned hotel is not available, we may shift you to another similar hotel.

Check-in/check-out time at all the properties will be at 1200 hrs (Noon). Some properties may not allow early check-In.

Buffet Service will be available from 8:00 am to 9:30 am and 8:30 pm to 10:00 pm.

You will get hot water in showers for a few hours in the morning. Kindly ask the receptionist about the timings in advance.

Room heaters are available at the hotel for an extra cost.

Triple Sharing does not necessarily mean Three Separate Beds. It can have one double bed and one rollaway bed. 

The vehicle will be provided as per the itinerary, any additional sightseeing not mentioned in the Itinerary will be charged extra.

No refund or compensation for any unused services/transportation in any circumstance.

Visits to museums/parks/monasteries/forts in the tour are subject to their opening on the day of the visit as per the rules of the competent authority.

We will not bear any cost for flights cancelled or delayed due to any reason.

There will be no compensation if you are delayed due to roadblocks, natural calamities or personal reasons. The alternate accommodation cost due to the same should be borne by you.

No changes in the date of the tour once booked. However, you can postpone the tour if it gets cancelled due to circumstances like natural calamities, government restrictions, pandemics, riots or war.

Rates are subjected to change until you haven’t paid the full amount.

Room allotment will be as per the availability at the time of check-in, floor or view preferences are not guaranteed.

All expenses which are not included in the cost of the package shall be paid directly the time of checkout.

Smoking or drinking is not allowed inside the vehicle.

  • Drugs, Narcotics and any kind of intoxication, firearms and gambling strictly prohibited.
  • Organiser’s decision will be final and binding on all members. No Arguments will be entertained.
  • The Bhatakna Tours will not be responsible for injury/accident / death to the clients.
  • Any damage caused to the property will be Chargeable.

Cancellation charges

  • 30 days or more: 90% of the total Package Cost is refundable
  • 21-30 days: 75% of the total Package Cost is refundable
  • 15-20 days: 50% of the total Package Cost is refundable
  • Less than 15 days: No refund

Due to COVID 19 here are few additional measures that are to be taken

  • Covid negative report and Vaccine certificate is mandatory.
  • Wearing gloves, a mask and carrying a sanitiser is mandatory otherwise there wouldn’t be an allowance to commend the trip/trek.
  • Members travelling should practice social distancing.
  • There shouldn’t be any travel record in the past 30 days.
  • If the trek/trip gets cancelled due to any pandemic or government’s order, there would be no refund instead the plan will get postponed.
  • If found with any of the COVID 19’s symptoms, the person will be immediately quarantined. In this case, as well, there wouldn’t be any refund.
  • Everyone travelling should have the ‘Arogya Setu App’ installed on their phones. 

When does Kedarnath shrine open & closed?

Every Year Kedarnath shrine open for darshan on the aupicious day depends on Akshay Tritya. On the day of Maha Shivratri, priests of Omkareshwar Temple, Ukhimath declare the date of opening of Kedarnath Temple for the darshan by pilgrims. The holy shrine remain open till the day of Bhai Dooj. On the occasion of Bhai Dooj, which falls after Diwali festival, the Kedarnath shrine gets closed for pilgrims for six months.


Kedarnath is a town in the State of Uttarakhand in India and has gained importance because of the Kedarnath Temple. It is a Nagar panchayat in Rudraprayag district. 

What is the Importance of Kedarnath Dham for the Hindus?

‘Kedar’ refers to Lord Shiva in Vedas & Puranas. Kedarnath, as per holy belief and sacredness, is known to be the land of Lord Shiva, where Lord still resides in the form of Linga. It is also one of 12 Jyotirlings and the highest among all. As per legends, after the Mahabharata war Pandavas came to Kashi and then Guptkashi in search of Lord Shiva for the easy ablution from their sins. But Lord Shiva was annoyed with them due to bad events at war. In order to not meet Pandavas, Lord Shiva concealed himself near Guptkashi in the form of a buffalo. Pandavas , in search of Lord Shiva came to this place witness the unique buffalo and follow him. In an act to hide, buffalo get inside the earth, but Bheem grabbed his tail and legs from behind. All Pandavas then request Lord Shiva to come out from the earth and give them easy ablution from their sins. After sometime

Is Kedarnath Trek is very difficult? Can people above 50 years, with reasonable good health can do this?

Yes, Kedarnath trek starts from Gaurikund and pilgrims have to cover 16 kms to reach the temple. The trek is medium steep at some points and adequate fitness is advise to pilgrims visiting Kedarnath. For senior citizens and children, there are facilities of Kandi, Palki and Mules. Proper facilities of drinking water and small shops are there in the trek route. Also there is helicopter service from Phata and other helipad to Kedarnath.

Please note that these are high altitude areas,and thus it is advised that people who have any respiratory problems or cardio-vascular problems to seek doctor’s advice before venturing to these areas.
