About Kalavantin Durg

Kalavantin Durg (also known as Kelve Teen Durg) History: The fortress is a part of the grand Sahyadri Range located between the present day, Panvel and Matheran at an elevation of 2300 feet above sea level. Built-in or around 500 BCE, this stronghold was abandoned, due to lack of freshwater, to the neighbor, Prabalgad. The only known history, today of this place is that the fortress was named after the then Queen, Kalavantin. The major attraction of this fort is the steps leading to the pinnacle which have been carved out from the belly of the mountain itself, which at an elevation of 2300 feet and at 500 BCE is an engineering masterpiece. As compared to all the fortresses built around the world, this fortress comes without any safety fence or ropes, thus giving it the tag of one of the most dangerous places in the world.

    Move towards Base Village.

    • 02:00 am : Reach Base Village
    • 02.15 am : Start the Trek with short briefing and Introduction
    • 04:15 am : Reach Prabalmachi and Rest
    • 06:15 am : Reach Top of Kalavantin and Witness Sunrise 
    • 08:00 am - Start descending to Prabalmachi.
    • 09:30 am - Reach Prabalmachi and have breakfast.
    • 10:00 am - Reach Base Village & Move towards Panvel
    • 12:00 pm - Reach Panvel and Take trains respectively towards Thane/CSMT

    • Avoid wearing precious Jewelry while trekking, as Bhataknawon’t be responsible for any losses for the same.
    • Consuming liquor or any kind of Alcoholic substance is prohibited. Carrying any kind of substance that’s illegal is not allowed. Smoking is strictly not allowed. Anybody found smoking or consuming alcoholic drinks will be expelled from the event without a refund.

    1- Are there any other pickup points  :

    • No, we have another pickup points from Mumbai.

    2- Are washrooms available during the trek?

    • No washrooms are available during the trek. 

    3- Can we bring our vehicle to the base village and is parking available?

    • Parking is available in Base, Parking fee will be applicable, Car owners parks at own risk.

    4- Is Jain food available on this trek?

    • No

    5- What are the compulsory things to carry on the trek?

    • Please carry 1-2 liters water, rainwear, wear good trekking shoes, wear a full t-shirt and track pants.

    6- Will we reach Mumbai Pune on time mentioned?

    • The itinerary is the approx time during monsoon road conditions are bad there may be delay due to bus breakdown or bad weather in case the bus reaches late SR will not pay for uber or ola or taxi fare.
